: BIOGRAPHY

Sascha Ley has been trained in Amsterdam, Bombay, Luxembourg and Saarbrücken. She expanded her personal improvisational vocabulary in workshops and master classes with Meredith Monk, Shelley Hirsch, Sainkho Namtschylak e.g. and during her many travels.

In parallel with music, drama and film works the five-language artist has devoted herself in recent years increasingly to composing and writing, creating and directing interdisciplinary performances.

Since 2007 she has produced, co-produced and released six albums under her own edition label ‘yela music’.

She works continuously with jazz musicians, contemporary ensembles and improvisers on various projects and has a permanent duo project Sascha Ley & Laurent Payfert with the French double bass player Laurent Payfert.

In her solo performance she sings, both composed and created-on-the-spot songs, accompanying herself with her loop station or some instrument, evoking a delicious voyage of tales and songs.

Sascha is based in Luxembourg and works internationally.
