CantoLX joining in Bloed En Rozen performance in Belgium
On September 17th, CantoLX will take part in the opening of the Belgian festival Op-Recht-Mechelen for a very unique occasion. The vocal ensemble will perform as part of the Bloed En Rozen performance, happening in the cathedral Saint-Rombout of Mechelen (BE), in presence of the Belgian king.
Bloed En Rozen – Het lied van Jeanne en Gilles is a play written by Tom Lanoye and directed by Guy Cassiers for the 2011’s edition of the Festival d’Avignon focusing on the trials of two historical figures: Joan Of Arc and Gilles de Rais. Nine singers will interpret the music, composed by Belgian Dominique Pauwels.
The play falls within the core matter of this festival, the current outlook on the rule of law and the 400-year celebration of the establishment in Mechelen of the first European court, allowing citizen to make an appeal against a regular court’s decision.
