: Kraus / Frink
Victor Kraus and Martin Frink have appeared as KrausFrink Percussion since joining forces for their first concert in Baden-Baden in 2006.
The two extraordinary percussionists studied with Isao Nakamura at the Karlsruhe Conservatory of Music, and graduated with distinction. Afterwards, they studied with Emmanuel Séjourné in Strasbourg, earned a specialization in duo performance. Nakamura and Séjourné, professors and grand masters of the art of percussion, have intensively fostered the promising duo. Master courses with Robert van Sice, Katarzyna Mycka, Eric Sammut, Oli Rubow and Freddy Studer have rounded out their studies.
The duo is known for its enormous diversity and unbridled enthusiasm for making music. Their performance repertoire includes recitals, live silent movie accompaniment, film music and drum acts in clubs, as well as workshops and master classes.
In 2008, the renowned Hungarian composer Márton Illés dedicated his work “Torso VII” to KrausFrink Percussion.
In 2009, KrausFink appeared at the festival “Das Fest” in Karlsruhe. In 2010, the two artists were invited to appear at the famous Karlsruhe Silent Movie Days, which they opened in 2011. The Media Center in Pforzheim invited KrausFink to hold a five-day workshop for young people entitled “Improvisation and Silent Movie Music”. The result of the workshop was “Silent Movie 21,” a teaching project that was immediately booked out for five years in advance due to its uniqueness and high standards.
Munich-based filmmakers at the Vogl & Hentschel film atelier and KrausFrink were honored for their jointly produced film “Reise ins Offene” by the Beethoven Festival Bonn and the German Music Council.
However, the duo’s main activity continues to focus on performing recitals. In 2011, the highlight of KrausFrink’s recitals to date was their appearance at the Berliner Philharmonie concert hall. 2012 will feature recitals at venues such as the Philharmonie Luxembourg and at Schloss Elmau, with a live radio concert to be broadcast on Saarland Radio planned for February 2013.
