"United Instruments of LUCILIN" (founded in 1999)  is the first Chamber music ensemble for contemporary music in Luxembourg dedicated to the promotion and creation of works from the 20th and 21st century. LUCILIN is a creation platform gathering interpreters, composers and artists of every board. Its aesthetic horizon covers all fields of contemporary creation, touching their audience not only by acoustic sensations, but also in an intellectual, spiritual and visual way: traditional concerts alternate with music theatre, light dramaturgy and scenic performance of compositions or introduction and live discussion with the composers.

The ensemble  "United Instruments of LUCILIN" was founded in 1999 by a group
of passionate luxembourgish musicians. It is the first Chamber music ensemble in Luxembourg
dedicated to the promotion and creation of works from the 20th and 21st century.

With 20 to 30 concerts a year, LUCILIN performs in Luxembourg and around the world. Last seasons'
performances brought the musicians to Buenos Aires (Ciclo de musica contemporanea), Shanghai
(world exhibition Shanghai 2010), Tallinn (Nargen Festival), Brussel (Ars Musica Festival) and
Amsterdam (Gaudeamus Musicweek).

« The project (Goldberg’s Ghost) as a whole is beautifully executed, with the Russian transcription of
Bach's canons rendered with the appropriate murky mysticism by the United Instruments of Lucilin.»
All music Guide (USA)- 2008

The Ensemble commissions and premières works by the best composers, like (a.o.) Toshio Hosokawa
(JP) Brice Pauset (F), CS Mahnkopf (D), James Dillon (GB), Jean-Luc Fafchamps (F) Marcel Reuter (L),
Michael Riessler (D),  and Martin Matalon (Arg/Fr).

The first CD conducted by Mark Foster was recorded in 2003 («!4 stars!» from specialised magazine Le
Monde de la musique) with premiere works from Francesconi, Maresz, Lenners, Fafchamps, Vinao et
Zinsstag. All CDs are edited by the excellent label Fuga Libera. The heart of LUCILIN consists of string quartet, piano and percussion, while wind and other instruments are included according to the size of the projects. Lucilin is a creation platform gathering interpreters, composers and artists of every board. Its aesthetic horizon covers all fields of contemporary creation and touch the audience not only by acoustic sensations, but also in an intellectual, spiritual and visual way: traditional concerts alternate with music theatre, light dramaturgy, scenic performance
of compositions, and introduction or live discussion with the composers.

LUCILIN gets new music out of its sterile corner and doesn’t recoil from spectacularly actions, which
are appreciated by an enthusiastic and constantly growing audience.
