: Stephany Ortega
Stephany Ortega is a classical and modern singer (soprano), choir conductor and pianist. Born in the Dominican Republic, she became dual national by naturalizing in Luxembourg.
She graduated with distinction with a Master of Arts in classical singing at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels; a Prix Supérieur in classical singing and a Premier Prix in Piano at the Conservatory of Luxembourg. She also completed a Bachelor in Music Education at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo where she graduated with great honors.
Very active in her performing activity, she sang throughout France, Spain, Germany, Canada, Dominican Republic, Belgium and Luxembourg. As a soloist concert she sang with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxembourg, conducted by Grammy winner Gast Waltzing, the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic conducted by José A. Molina, the Oscar winner Maximilian Schell, the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides and with the Luxembourg Military Band in the presence of the Hereditary Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg.
Furthermore, she has been involved in several operistic productions, like Haendel’s Rinaldo, singing the role of Almirena or Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni, performing one of the three ladies.
As a recitalist, she formed together with Léna Kollmeier the Duo Rosa. Recently they recorded their first album "Return" with the label ET’CETERA (BE) and presented in a concert that took place in November 2016 at the Philharmonie Luxembourg. The repertoire in this disc will be presented in a world tour around Europe and Latin America, until April 2017.
Stephany Ortega performed at venues like the Philharmonie in Luxembourg, the "Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie" in Brussels, the "Centre des Arts Pluriels" in Ettelbruck, the "Théâtre d'Esch-sur-Alzette", the festival "Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen", the "Grand-théâtre de Luxembourg" and the "Royal Conservatory of Brussels".
During her young career, she received the following prizes: "Excellence in Music" awarded by Baskin Robbins, bronze medal at the european competition "Jeunes Solistes", the prizes "Lerminiaux" and "Vindelinck" awarded by the Conservatory of Brussels, both for her merits in classical singing, as well as the "Prix Servais" awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Belgium.

DUO ROSA emerged thanks to a wonderful friendship and meeting of musical minds between soprano Stephany Ortega and pianist Léna Kollmeier when they were studying at Brussels Royal Conservatory. Thanks to their comprehensive training in classical and modern music, they are able to approach traditional repertoire with ease, while tackling the challenges of contemporary music and exploring several world music style.
The duo has performed in public in several occasions in Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain. In 2015 they had the opportunity to work together with renowned composer Wolfgang Rihm and performed several of his works at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels with great success. The duo recently launched its first CD Return (a journey between Europe and Latin America), under the label Et'cetera Records, at the Philharmonie Luxembourg in November 2016. After that, Duo Rosa started a promotional tour - "Return World Tour" - across Europe (Brussels, Rome, Madrid, Berlin, Barcelona...), the US and the Dominican Republic, including appearances at Carneguie Hall in New York, La Monnaie in Brussels, and the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Santo Domingo.
