Claudia Moulin was born in Luxembourg to an Italian father and a Portuguese mother. She started her vocal studies at the Conservatory in Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) with Mariette Kemmer. In 2007, she won a vocal scholarship of the Yamaha Foundation and in 2009 the Prix Lyrique du Cercle Carpeaux of the Opéra national de Paris. From 2007 to 2009, she was a member of the Atelier Lyrique of the Opéra national de Paris, singing, among other roles, the Princess in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges, Carolina in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto and Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte.
At the Opéra national de Paris, she was heard between 2008 and 2011 in Strauss’ Die Frau ohne Schatten conducted by Gustav Kuhn and Verdi’s Rigoletto conducted by Daniel Oren. In January 2011, Claudia Moulin took on the role of Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen under the baton of Claude Schnitzler at the Opéra-Théâtre de Metz as well as the Opéra national de Lorraine, Nancy. She also sang in the Young Singers Projects of the Salzburg Festival.
Highlights of the 2012 season included the role of Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola under Riccardo Frizza and Sylviane in Lehár’s Die lustige Witwe under Asher Fisch, both at the Opéra national de Paris. The 2013 season brought her to the Aix en Provence Festival where she sang The Princess in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, marking the first performance of a big tour through France and Belgium. In May 2013 she was heared at The Herblay’s Theater where she performed Fatime in Abu Hassan by C. M. von Weber.
As a concert performer, Claudia Moulin has appeared at the Palais Garnier, the French National Library, the Athénée Théâtre Louis-Jouvet in Paris, the Villa Médici in Rome and at the Auditorium du Louvre Paris. She also sung several concerts and recitals in Luxembourg in 2013 at venues such as the Philharmonie and at Neimënster.
In spring 2014 she performed with pianist Grégory Moulin in an extensive and successful recital tour in the United States in venues such as the Carnegie Hall - New York, San Francisco Community Music Centre and in Washington, D.C among others. The recital programme, entitled 'Richard Strauss – Des racines et des ailes' included lieder by Richard Strauss, Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Hugo Wolf, Alexander Zemlinsky, Alban Berg.
2015 higlights, in addition to several recitals, included the role of Mrs Ford in Salieri's Falstaff at the Théâtre Roger Barat in Herblay and the main role of Carlotta ou La Vaticane, a new opera written by Dominique Gesseney-Rappo.
2016 projects include a tour in Ecuador in March (with performances at the Teatro Sanchez Aguilar/Sala Zaruma in Guayaquil, at the Teatro de Artes Segundo Cueva Celi in Loja, at the Teatro Sucre in Cuenca and at the Casa da la Música Quito). She also recorded her first album entitled Echoes on the label Odradek Records. The disc, featuring Lieder repertoire, explores the legacy of Richard Strauss and has been released in 2017.
