The music of the ‘Paul Fox Collective’ is a fresh blend of wonderfully balanced and high-quality European Jazz.
Usually performing in the form of a quintet with sax / guitar frontline and rhythm section, the band is occasionally extended to include the wonderful vocalist Stephanie Neigel. In his compositions that are very much inspired by personal experiences, Paul Fox values and honours the Jazz tradition, while simultaneously creating a contemporary, updated context for a ‘down-to-earth and honest’ European jazz.
Paul Fox studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels and at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Mannheim. He has attended private courses in New York with, inter alia, Kendrick Scott, John Riley, Gregory Hutchinson, Bill Stewart and Ari Hoenig, and is currently living in Luxembourg.

: PRESS QUOTES
: BIOGRAPHY
Paul Fox was born on the 17th of July 1983. He grew up up in a small village in Luxembourg. Right from his childhood, he has been very interested in music and everything connected to it ('I have had the great chance to grow up in a house where music was omnipresent'). His parents tell him that as a toddler he already liked to rhythmically beat tin boxes (originally intended for biscuits) mimicking playing the drums. His first instrument, however, was the saxophone which he studied for 10 years. About 4 years into this, he started playing the drums. In Luxembourg, he had courses with Frank Hemmerlé, who really got him into the art of playing this beautiful instrument and who helped him discover a whole new musical horizon and a new approach to music. Workshops in Belgium (with Olivier Stalon, Kris Duerinckx, Fred Delplancq, Marc Mangen, etc.) made him discover his love for Jazz. Soon after that, he was accepted at the Brussels Royal Conservatory of Music, where he was taught by Bruno Castellucci, Jean-Louis Rassinfosse, Arnould Massart, Pierre Zurstrassen, among others.
Between 2007 and 2009 he studied at the „Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Mannheim“, where he took masterclasses with Michael Küttner, Thomas van der Geld, Thomas Stabenow, Dietmar Mensinger, and others. Late in 2009, he moved to New York City, where he had lessons with Bill Stewart, Ari Hoenig, Nasheet Waits, John Riley, Gregory Hutchinson, Dan Weiss, Phil Maturano, Mark Guilana and Kendrick Scott. In September 2011, Paul published his first album „Submerging & Emerging“ with the german Label ‚JAZZ’n’ARTs’. In 2013, he published his second album „Breaking the Silence“ with the american Label ‚Odradek Records’. He has now returned to Luxembourg, where he teaches young people music theory and percussion. He is working on many projects as a bandleader and as a sideman (for instance the ‚Marly Marques Quintet’).
