BEAM is a collective of like-minded musicians. With an international lineup - half Israeli and half Luxembourgish, each member brings a unique set of skills and influences into the mix.
BEAM isn't just a band of highly skilled musicians, it is a group of friends that enjoy each other immensely and that brotherhood shines through strongly when they make music together
Their debut album, FLIGHT DREAM was released in 2018. It features strong, lyrical compositions, memorable solos and exciting group interplay. With all members contributing original compositions to the band, BEAM is a real collective and a fascinating mix of personalities and styles that perfectly complement each other.

BEAM is a collective of minded musicians with an international lineup of musicians, where each member brings a unique set of skills and influences into the mix. The band consists of Eran Har Even (guitarist), Niels Engel (drummer), Boris Schmidt (double-bass) and Maayan Smith (saxophone).
Eran Har Even (guitarist)
Eran Har Even is an Edison nominated Israeli guitarist, composer and music educator residing in Amsterdam. In 2012 Eran completed both his Bachelors and Masters degrees at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He is one of the most active figures of the Dutch jazz scene, recording and performing with some of the finest jazz musicians on the local and international circuits. Benny Golson, Terell Staford, Harmen Fraanje, David Friedman, Jamal Thomas, Joris Roelofs and Gilad Hekselman, to name a few.
For a decade Eran has been a faculty member of the Conservatory of Amsterdam - teaching, training, theory, guitar and coaching - training the next generation of aspiring Jazz and Pop musicians.
Niels Engel (drummer)
Niels Engel is a Luxembourgish drummer / percussionist and composer. Having traveled and having a relationship with many other people in Luxembourg drummers.
Niels has recorded over a dozen albums with artists like Pol Belardi, Jerome Klein, Ernie Hammes, David Laborier, Luxembourg National Jazz Orchestra, Luxembourg Jazz Orchestra, Mark Mangen, Matiss Cudars, Beam, etc.
Besides being on stage, Niels is a passionate educator at both the conservatories of Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg.
Boris Schmidt (double-bass)
A lifelong musician, Luxembourgish born Boris Schmidt only found his way to the double bass at the age of 19 under the tutelage of Marc Demuth. One year later he went to study under Hein van Geyn and Fans van der Hoeven at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague where he obtained a bachelor degree. Since then he has established himself as a mainstay of the Belgian jazzscene while simultaneously touring the world with baroque ensemble The Arpeggiata. After recording more than 25 CDs as sideman, the album "Now" marks his debut as a bandleader and composer.
Maayan Smith (saxophone)
Maayan Smith is an award winning saxophonist from Israel, based in Brussels, Belgium who has distinguished himself with his soulful sound and exciting, lyrical improvisational style. He started his career as a classical musician, playing at the highest levels in Israel. After finishing his classical studies in 2007, he will be graduating from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with a Masters degree in Jazz performance, winning the prestigious Toots Thielemans Jazz Award for that year. He is a member of several bands, including Sinister Sister, Man On Fire & The Soul Soldiers and the Israel-Luxembourg BEAM collaboration. He has shared the stage with the best of the Belgian Scene, including Jean Paul Estievenart, Michel Hatzigeorgiou (AKA Moon) Chander Sardjoe,
