As the Luxembourg music industry continues to grow, it’s never been more important to build support systems to help local businesses thrive on an international level. Funding under the new music:LX Support for Local Structures has been created to encourage the growth of the creative music sector of Luxembourg by supporting a wide range of business development and promotional activities abroad, from B2B networking to marketing, conferences and workshops. This grant is awarded on a case-by-case basis and must be related to the export of Luxembourgish music abroad.
The amount of support will be awarded based on the structure’s long term development plan and the export potential of its artists. Eligible applicants must be firmly established in Luxembourg and have at least one artist recognized by music:LX and Luxembourg institutions.
music:LX expects a contribution from the local structure or artist representative in any venture we support. As a result, music:LX will only cover up to 50% of the total eligible costs. Travel, promotion, and development activities must prove to be linked to the export of a music:LX artist.
Activities that will be supported under this grant include :
Travel / Business Trips
- Accreditation(s) to internationally recognized conferences and events (events in which a Luxembourg artist is performing will be favoured)
Travel and accommodation expenses related to conferences, festivals, events/showcases in key markets, business meetings abroad
- Flights, Train, Van/Car-Rental, Gas, Tolls (Economy class-only)
Promotion / Marketing / Networking
These section of the support has been put in place to promote and enhance the structure itself. The aim of it is to further professionalize the structure by building upon its network abroad, market its brand, and promote its roster.
- PR services
- Digital promotion
- Community / social media management services
- Digital campaigns for the export of a finished product (video, single, album, etc)
- Advertising for an export-ready product. Examples include : Print ads, Radio ads, Google / YouTube ads, Banners, Trade publications
- Playlist Plugger
- Radio Plugger
- Invitation of professionals (travel & accommodation)
Professional development costs related to the music business (conferences, workshops, consulting, etc)

- Any costs incurred by the artist (travel, accommodation, per diems, travel, etc) are considered separate from the Support for Local Structures initiative. Please speak with your respective project manager on support options for artists.

When should you submit your project?
Any initial requests for support should be sent a minimum of two months in advance of the project start. Exceptions can be made if last-minute activities come about, but we’ve set this deadline in order to ensure a proper strategy and lead-time is in place. Should you not inform us before the two-month deadline, music:LX reserves the right to decline any initial request for funding or support.

How should you send in your initial application?
Fill in the initial application form here. In this form, you will be asked to write about your business development plan, a description of the activities in question, as well as a detailed budget. Every application for support should be approached thoughtfully. Please review the descriptions of each of the core documents required for the application below.
OVERALL BUSINESS DESCRIPTION : Describe your business. Which Luxembourg artists do you represent? How does your business help in the overall growth of the Luxembourg music and creative industries?
PROJECT DESCRIPTION : List the high-level activities to take place. Explain the goals of the initiative(s) and how they will help grow or expand the capacity of your business. If it’s an event, describe it and detail why you’re going there. Describe the targeted countries and why they make sense in your business development plan. Describe how you will determine if the project has been successfully completed and the results you expect to deliver by the end of the project.
TIMELINE : Provide a detailed timeline of the project in question. When will the project take place? How far in advance of the activity will the planning and setup take place?
GLOBAL BUDGET ESTIMATION : Estimate how much you’ll spend on these development activities per campaign. Include all spends, regardless of whether you hope to subsidise them with music:LX. Any initial applications for funding must also declare all incomes, revenue and any other public funding received or expected to be received toward the same project (including music:LX, FOCUNA, Ministry of Culture, and Merch). Conditions for Funding. What are the next steps?
Your application will be analyzed by music:LX as soon as possible to determine the relevance and feasibility of the project, whether or not to support, and if so, the amount awarded.
Once your application has been approved, you must compile and organise all invoices and receipts incurred throughout the duration of the tour as a condition of funding. No costs will be counted without proof of receipt and generally, eligible costs must be incurred after the application has been submitted. music:LX reserves the right to remove any ineligible expenses from your final cost report. The final amount granted may be reduced in the event of any changes from the initial budget and only after the final refund request has been analyzed.
It is mandatory to include the music:LX logo and acknowledgement on each communication and marketing medium used to promote the project as well as any material sent to the press. (download the logo here).
Moreover, if any other request for subsidy or grants is already made or granted (Ministry of Culture, FOCUNA, private sponsors or other institutions) it is mandatory to mention it to music:LX in your Global Budget Estimation.
